SiSu® for Controlled and Sustained Release

ReBio’s SiSu® technology

ReBio's SiSu® technology is a phase-inverting anhydrous liquid polymer platform that forms a semi-solid in-situ forming implant when injected into an aqueous environment. SiSu® is designed to steadily release effective levels of therapeutics within the eye by a combination of controlled diffusion of API molecules and API release via controlled hydrolysis (degradation) of the polymer into safe and non-toxic compounds that are well tolerated and naturally cleared from the body.

How SiSu® Works

The SiSu® platform consists of a blend of proprietary, hydrophobic biodegradable polymers, and proprietary blends of regulatorily accepted solvents. These materials are matched to drug characteristics, target tissue, and release requirements to produce the final formulated product. Upon introduction of the formulation into an aqueous environment within the eye, e.g. the vitreous, the SiSu® platform forms a semi-solid depot of polymer-bound drug. As the aqueous environment interacts with the depot, the polymer is slowly dissolved, releasing the drug into the eye.
